DC Runners enjoy beautiful day of RunningApril 20, 2009 Vancouver

There were tens of thousands of runners in the beautiful Vancouver Sunday April 19 - plenty of them were wearing costumes and the scene was more like a party than a race. Runners came dressed as Vikings and as court jesters, carrying disco balls and streamers, wearing rainbow caps, bridal gowns, bandannas and turbans. For 55,855 registered runners and walkers, the mood was celebratory .

Douglas College team of 37 participants included faculty, staff and students from DL and NW campuses. It was exciting that the majority of the team was attending the 10km run for the first time, which is a great accomplishment. Running clinics took place Wednesdays at both campuses.

For all the fun and gamers the race also has a serious side - it's both a community event and an international competitive race. Alex Greig, a SPSC student finished with an amazing time of 35:34

We're excited to attend the 26th Vancouver Sun Run May 9, 2010- a later than usual date because of the Olympics.
